Lake Valley, New Mexico

11/23/2014 – the day before the first run of the Elephant Butte FMCA-Jeep Rally. We did some exploring that included the very interesting ghost town, Lake Valley, NM. This was an old silver mining town that is now completely deserted except for the BLM staff than mans a museum in the town. In the 1870’s miners tunneled into a silver-lined cavity they named the “bridal chamber” that alone yielded 2.5 million troy ounces (78 tons) of silver.
